Will I have to pay for motorway repairs?

Ask an Expert23 July 2010 I was recently involved in an accident on the M65 motorway slip road at junction 3. The car in front braked sharply so I was forced to swerve into the right-hand lane to avoid hitting him. Another driver who was following me also swerved to the right and hit the crash barrier. The police said I and the driver behind could have to pay for damage to the barrier as we were both involved in the accident. Is this correct?
